2013 Summer Trip, Still more Leelanau

Wow, what a beautiful area.   We headed this morning up the mission peninsula of Grand Traverse Bay.   Nothing but cherry farms and wineries for about 205 miles.   Had lunch at the Jolly Pumpkin.  Innovative delicious food.   I had a wagyu beef burger with a sirachi mayonnaise,   Jan had a Bison sloppy joe.   Both served with two special beers from their craft brewery.   Best burger I have ever had.  Yum, mouth is watering now thinking about it.

We found out that they not only had a micro brewery and winery but also a micro distillery with tasting.   We tasted five of their designer spirits and loved the agave (tequila) and a Gin made with local juniper berries. Smoothest Gin we have ever had..  I cant wait to make a martini with the bottle we bought.

We visited with my cousin Patsy and had dinner her, her son Jim and daughter in law.    It was great catching up on family stuff.  Our last evening was treated with a special sunset.   We loved the Leelanau peninsula.   We hope to visit there again someday.

One of the many wineries in the area.

Traverse City is famous for it's cherry's.
