2013 Summer Trip, Leelanau Peninsula and surrounding area.

As mentioned before, sunrise and sunsets are both visible from our campsite.  We are a short walk from a beautiful rocky beach.   The waters of Lake Michigan are very clear and really not that cold.   I went swimming yesterday afternoon and it was refreshing.

One of the highlights of the trip so far has been Sleeping Bear National Lake Shore.   We were both blown away by the size of the dunes, at some points over 450 ft above the lake level.   Here are some shots of our dune climb and some of the vistas we saw.

Just a note for showing scale,  The boat in the pictures is about 70 ft long.   I had no conceptions that the dunes would be so high,    Climbing the soft sands was unbelievably hard but coming down was downright fun.

Sunrises have been incredible.    I shot these images this morning.

We are off today to visit Traverse City, Wineries and family.   Wow how the time is flying.
Maybe more tonight.
